Unless exempted by the Police Licensing and Regulatory Department (PLRD), all individuals must be certified in the 3 Basic Licensing Units (BLUs) to obtain a Security Officer Licence in Singapore.

*From 1 Jan 2024, Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services) (PGPS) would not be available.

Existing officers who took Guard and Patrol (Provide Guard and Patrol Services) (PGPS) would need to complete Access Control Management (Operate Basic Security Equipment) (OBSE) by Dec 2025 to retain their Security Officer rank. Click here for more info.

The new training requirements are for Security Officers (SO) and Senior Security Officers (SSO).

The Security Progressive Wage Model is a 5-level career progression model for officers to progress from Security Officer (SO) to Chief Security Officer (CSO). Officers are required to meet the years of experience and training requirements to progress up the career ladder. As officers progress, they can look forward to better wages that correspond with their skills and productivity.
